This page is all about one of my favorite things to knit - Socks!

If you've never worn a pair of handknit socks - I'm sorry!

If you have, then you know just how special a pair of socks that are made just for your feet in yummy yarn can feel.

Even better if they are also handspun from wool that you've processed yourself.

Some of the socks that I've knit:

These socks were knit using PGR's "Dream Socks" pattern.  I hate them.  The heel is too small for me, but I don't have the gaps that other people talk about.  It was a hard to work heel, and not worth the trouble, IMNSHO.  I won't be using that type of heel again.

Gray Opal Socks

These socks were knit with a Gray Opal colorway and blue after thought heels.  I used a 3-needle bind-off on the toes for the first time and I like it!  The lady at the LYS really wanted to teach me to kitchner and I had a very hard time convincing her that I knew how to Kitchner but I really wanted to use a 3-needle bind-off to see what it was like...I'll do it again, for sure!

Yarn from Woolgatherings

These socks were knit from wool yarn hand-dyed by Sandy Sitzman of Woolgatherings from NW Wools here in Portland.  I've bought a lot of her hand-dyed rovings, too - yummy!

Raspberry wool socks - Dutch heel

These  socks were knit from a single skein of Knittally 100% wool.  They have seen over 2 years of regular wear, and are holding up nicely, even if they do have a few pills now and need the heels darned...

My first Opals! More to come, along with a pattern

After thought heel

My first Opals!  I like the patterning, and "fraternal" socks are just my style.  I have another pair on the needles (in gray) and two more skeins waiting in the queue...They do take a long time for me to finish on US #1 needles, but are well worth it!

Pink wool socks

Dutch heel, contrast toe

Another pair of "single skein" socks, these from yarn rescued from a thrift store.  100% wool, of course, with a Dutch heel and contrasting toes

Purple wool socks

Dutch heel and stst at top of ribbing for a little curl

Another pair of "vanilla" socks from a bargain skein at the LYS.  For whatever reason, I knit these on only 40 stitches, so they will go to CIC, since they are too tight around for me.  I added about 5 rounds of stst at the top to make a little curl...
